LoVe…PeAcE…and ChIcKeN GrEaSe

 So am I the only one who is excited to see that Oprah is giving away goodies this summer? Luckily, I’m usually finished writing articles and it’s my son’s bottle-time right about the time Oprah comes on in the afternoon, so I can usually catch an episode if I want. Although the summer episodes are usually re-runs, they are still great and there are a lot that I haven’t seen before. I was able to catch Wednesday’s “Spirituality 101″ and Thursday’s “Frugal Living” and really enjoyed it. Who doesn’t need a spiritual pick-me-up and a few ideas for saving a few bucks.

 I hadn’t ever heard of “freegans” until yesterday and afterwards I googled the term. Wow. Extreme living. I’m not too hip on dumpster-diving for my dinner, but more power to you if you can do it! I think the over-all concept of living simply and on less is definitely an excellent idea.  When I was pregnant with my son I was put on bedrest at around 2 months prego. We went from two incomes to one and quickly learned how to live on less. It isn’t always very glamorous but I am proud of who it’s made me become. I don’t waste money like I used to and appreciate things a whole lot more.

Now…as far as my Oprah and this sweepstakes! Yay! I realize that the odds are like one in one billion-catrillion…but I can wish! I have to try! You watch for the word of the day and then go to her website and enter the word for a chance to win groovy things like a car, trip to the show, gift cards and all kinds of other goodies! I’m never very lucky at winning things, but a girl can hope!!

I wish I could win a swimming pool! Every day I hear the kids across the alley playing “Marco Polo” or splashing around and it sounds like so much fun! What a nice way to cool off on a scorching Texas summer day! Hmmm…maybe someday!
